Tillicoultry Glen: path clearing and continuing the dead hedge - Fri, 31 Oct 2014 - 11:00 to 15:00

The beginnings of a mighty fine dead hedge

On a recent volunteer day we made fantastic head way towards completing a dead hedge to reduce path erosion in a section of the steps in the lower Glen and now were going back to finish things off. The dead hedge is nearly complete and all it really needs is to have more material (branches, twigs and leaves) added to it and compacted in order to make it a really sturdy structure. In addition to this one of the footpaths that runs through the lower Glen is in need of a good scraping and cut back of vegetation to widen it back out to it's former glory so we'll have a shot at this too. Also the drainage channels that run across the path could do with clearing and the paved area is slowly being engulfed by moss and whilst this may look lovely and natural it can be quite slippy to walk on so some of it will need to be removed. As usual if you fancy coming down and lending a hand, even just for a wee spell it would be much appreciated!
