Dry stone walling training in Alva Glen - Tue, 14 Apr 2015 - 10:00 to Wed, 15 Apr 2015 - 16:00

Here at the OLP we are committed to giving back to our volunteers whose hard work is so essential to our projects and what better way to do this than by offering them the chance to learn new and interesting skills free of charge.

The latest volunteer training course we are offering is two days of instruction in dry stone walling, or dry stane dyking as it also reffered to, under proffesional waller Jason Hoffman. Over the course of the two days participants will be rebuilding a section of  retaining wall close to the lade in Alva Glen (not the immaculate completed section pictured!) using stone collected on site. This event is being run in conjunction with the Alva Glen Heritage Trust who, once the wall is complete, will be planting wildflower bulbs on the slope behind and constructing a pergola in front of it.

Due to the nature of the training itself places on this course will be strictly limited to 8 people. To get the most benefit ideally participants will be able to attend both of the days training however if numbers allow we may be able to accomodate requests for single days.
