*NB postponed until Tues 23 July* Tait's Tomb then Alva Old Kirkyard: Kirkyard Conservation and Data Recording - Tue, 23 Jul 2013 - 10:00 to 15:00

Tait's Tomb

Historic Kirkyard Conservation and Data Recording

Having completed volunteer conservation / restoration work in Tillicoultry Upper Kirkyard, we are moving on to Tait's Tomb and Alva Old Kirkyard. The ultimate aim is to undertake basic stone conservation and data recording at each of the graveyards that will become part of The Kirkyards Trail, with on-site interpretation, leaflets and on-line information. We will also create a fully searchable, freely available database (text and photos) that people can use for research purposes.

We will continue our efforts (clearing, cleaning and recording) from 10am until about 3pm. We'll finish work already begun at Tait's Tomb before heading to Alva.

Please feel free to join us for as long or short a time as you like - any and all help will be gratefully received. Please wear clothes appropriate for the weather and bring any snacks / refreshments you will need.

It would be helpful if you could let Susan Mills know if you can come along - that will allow her to organise the necessary equipment. Her email address is smills@clacks.gov.uk.
